In April 2008, we took a trip down to the San Diego Zoo with cousin Caitlyn. It was in the middle of the week, so the Zoo wasn't crowded. We had a lot of fun seeing all the animals - especially the peeing elephant - and getting our faces painted. Our favorite thing that day was seeing a newborn baby kangaroo - a joey - climb out of its mother pouch to hop around its exhibit.
I found you! I remembered what you said your blog name was! Now I will add you to my links, so you can just be a click away. Looks like you are doing great already in the blogging world. Love the pictures of the girls at the lake and getting their awards for gymnastics.
Vince and I will celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary this September. After all this time, we are still each other's best friend and favor one another's company over all others. As Vince said on our wedding day..."it just gets better and better!" And it has! We have 3 beautiful, intelligent, charismatic girls. Lauren is 11, Megan is 9, and Madison is 7. They are the joy of our lives. We love talking to them and hearing the important and interesting things they say. I don't think a day goes by when we are not amazed by something one of them says or does.
Lauren's favorite subjects in school are math and science, though Lauren excels in all academic areas. She works hard and earns top grades.
When Lauren is not busy doing homework - and she does A LOT of it! - she likes playing with her sisters, listening to music, reading adventure-fantasy books, singing, and playing the piano. She is looking forward to summer - a break from all that homework - and lots of opportunities to sleep in, relax, and keep busy with all her hobbies.
Lauren also loves doing crafts and being on the computer. She knits and likes to make silly faces using a photo app and sing along to Youtube videos of her favorite songs. When allowed, another thing she really enjoys is playing games like Cut the Rope or Angry Birds on my iPad.
Lauren is a really great big sister, daughter, and friend. She exhibits admirable character and is extremely kind and generous to everyone. We love our 11-year-old!
Megan
Megan is our creative 3rd grader. While she can be extremely shy with others, Megan is a ham when she's around family. She has a great sense of humor and likes to sing, dance, and play pretend. It is not unusual to find Megan playing school or house or store with her dolls and stuffed animals. She also enjoys doing paper crafts like scrapbooking, making cards, and creating origami animals.
In school, Megan shines. Her teacher says she always gets top scores on all of her assignments and tests. Megan's favorite subject is writing. Megan also enjoys doing P.E. Her favorite time, however, is recess, when she can talk and play with her best friends.
One thing that makes Megan stand out from her sisters and other 9-year-olds is her sense of tidyness and organization. There have been times when we have discovered her quietly refolding and rearranging the clothes in her drawers! All this without being asked! When it's time to clean up messes, Megan is the most efficient and effective cleaner-upper!
Madison
Madison is our "peace" child. At 7, she loves anything with the Peace symbol on it and favors the color green. Madison is also a precocious philosopher. She often thinks about and makes comments on very philosophical issues. Quite impressive! Madison reads chapter books - her current favorite series are the Judy Blume books about Fudge. Madison always asks to be challenged with math facts. Whenever we are in the car or waiting in line for something, she wants us to quiz her with multiplication problems.
At home, Madison enjoys playing with her sisters. She plays pretend store, house, or restaurant or else she goes in the backyard to play on the swing set or the trampoline. She also enjoys singing to Youtube videos or playing Disney Sing It on the Wii.
Our "baby" thrives on her role as the youngest. Like most babies of the family, she has a flair for drama, enjoys attention and is very affectionate. She looks up to her big sisters, but often, Madison likes to blaze her own trails. She's a spunky kid!
